August Workshop – Where the Mountain Meets the Roses

with Jill Huntington

"Where the Mountain Meets the Roses" is a fun project containing two very different techniques – Jigsaw Puzzle Piecing (JPP)TM, an original technique that Jill developed for piecing complex, irregular quilt designs, and improv foundation piecing for creating colorful, one-of-a-kind roses. The resulting mini quilt captures the essence of a summer day, with beautiful roses in bloom!

Students can expect to get a good start on making their mini-quilt in class and finishing it on their own at home. All skill levels are welcome!

Saturday, August 8th
8:30 am to 4:00 pm

Registration is now open to non-members, also.

Program: “What Were the Judges Thinking?”
Kathie R Kerler

NWQ member and certified quilt judge, Kathie will answer our questions and allay our fears about having our quilts judged.

"Have you attended quilt shows filled with fabulous quilts and wondered how the judges decided the winners? Or maybe you went to a show and thought the judges were all wrong. Have you considered entering a judged show yourself but are afraid of what the judges will say about your quilt? Then this presentation is for you. Learn how judges evaluate quilts using the judging pathway, which includes general appearance, design, and workmanship. I share some of my experiences as an entrant. When I judge my goal is to offer encouraging feedback to all entrants. During this presentation my wish is for you to ask questions, gain knowledge, and find out how positive it can be to enter a judged show."
