NWQ 2010 Quilt Show Special Event
Judy Niemeyer's Workshops: Foundation Paper Piecing Cutting Workshops and Color Workshops Seasonal Table Runners Cutting Workshops 2 Half Day Workshops -- Friday, March 12, 2010 10:00 am -- 1:00 pm or 2:00 pm -- 5:00 pm  This is a 3-hour workshop involving detailed pre-cutting instructions for Judy's Seasonal Table Runner Pattern. The patterns must be purchased in advance of class, along with the fabric indicated on the back of the pattern. You can purchase patterns at www.quiltworx.com or contact your local quilt shop to find out if they have any in stock. No additional pre-class preparation is necessary, simply bring your pattern and fabrics with you to the workshop! The instructions in this table runner pattern are typical of most of Judy's patterns and teach students the ease with which they can pre-cut fabrics using templates for paper piecing. She will include a half-hour demonstration at the end of the workshop of the paper piecing process so students can take their table runner home and complete it. Once students learn the pre-cutting tips and techniques Judy teaches, along with the organizational skills she has developed, even beginner students realize that any of Judy's patterns are within their realm of capability! Pre-cutting and fabric organization remain one of the tools that paper-piecer's versed in Judy's process treasure the most.
Spectacular Color for Your Quits Workshops
Spectacular Color for Your Quilts Workshop: Cost $25.00 Limit 50 per workshop2 Half Day Workshops -- Saturday, March 13, 2010 10:00 am -- 1:00 pm or 2:00 pm -- 5:00 pm  This seminar walks students through color selection for their quilts. Many of Judy's quilts are provided for the purpose of example. The presentation discusses how to select fabrics for recreating quilts you've seen when fabrics are no longer available, how to select fabrics to accomplish the recreation of something that inspires you, creating a beautiful quilt around colors selected by someone else, and "cleaning" out your fabric stash. She will demonstrate the process of selecting fabrics for several of her quilt patterns, feature the utilization of Hoffman Bali Pops, and use fat quarters, supplied by the students in different fabric arrangements to create appealing layouts for the Desert Sky Pattern. She will select fabrics for up to 4 Desert Sky Kits, which will be given away, along with a number of other patterns and fabric groupings at the end of the workshop to lucky participants. Students will need to bring 1 dark and 1 bright bali batik fat quarter to class for the Desert Sky demonstration.Registrations will be accepted on a "1st come 1st serve" basis for NWQ members and non-members paid in full. New for NWQ 2010 Show Baby Boutique A new Baby Boutique will offer Northwest Quilters a venue to display and sell their work at the 2010 NWQ Show in March. So many visitors to the 2009 show inquired about quilts "for sale" that we believe there is a strong demand for quality, custom-made quilts and other unique quilted items for babies. The boutique is your chance to show off your talents while also providing a family with a wonderful keepsake for their baby! Here are the rules:
Entries must be postmarked by February 19, 2010 -- the same deadline as for entries to NWQ show. Thank you for your enthusiastic participation in Baby Boutique!
