Dye Workshops with Quilter Ann Johnston will be held at the Corvallis Depot in Corvallis, Oregon.

November 11 - 15, 2002

Color by Accident & Dyed to Clamp

• Create one-of-a kind textures & variegated color mixtures on fabric
• Use water immersion dye recipes & dye fabrics in large quantities
• Explore the unlimited possibilities of creating Color by Accident
• Create repeat patterns using folds, stitching and clamps
• Practice variations of low-water immersion dyeing


November 18 - 22, 2002

Stamping with Dyes

• Stamp on fabric using fiber-reactive dyes
• Design your own blocks and sample a variety of stamping tools
• Learn how dyes on fabric can be repeated
• Explore some of the many possible stamping combinations
• Add background colors using painting & dyeing techniques
• Develop your own personal style & approach to the dyeing process


Quilter Ann Johnston will facilitate both 5-day dyeing workshops. Ann is best known for her hand-painted quilts, which have been displayed in shows and galleries across the country. Her wide-ranging interests are reflected in her extensive travel in North and South America and Europe, over 25 years of quilt making and fabric dyeing, and a continuous study of color and design. Ann has written four books: Color by Design: Paint and Print with Dye, The Quilter's Book of Design, Color By Accident: Low Water Immersion Dying, and Dye Painting! . Ann teaches workshops, lectures, and exhibits her fabric and quilts both nationally and internationally.
