Jo Barry
Jo Barry's quilt "Moonshine" is in the special exhibit "In the American Tradition VI" at the International Quilt Festival -- Chicago. Her quilt is the illustration for that exhibit in the Festival catalog.
Jo's quilt "Square of the Hypotenuse" is the cover quilt on the publicity postcard for the International Quilt Market being held in Portland in May, 2008.

Marje Rhine
Marjorie Rhine's pattern "Prairie Flowers" is published in the June 2008 issue of Quilters' Newsletter. This pattern is described as "a challenging floral design based on hexagons and diamonds, including curved and set-in piecing."
Marje Rhine's pattern "Midnight Dreams" is featured on pp. 56-60 in the May, 2008 issue of American Quilter magazine.

Susan Helzer
We are sad to let you know that NWQ member Susan Helzer has passed away. Her funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, at Holman's Funeral Service, 2610 S.E. Hawthorne. Remembrances may be made to White Bird Ballet and the Children's Art Museum. The family also encourages people to consider bone marrow donor registration.

Helene Knott
NWQ 2007 Raffle Quilt, "Rose Birds" designed by Helene Knott, will be featured on the back page of the April, 2008 American Quilter magazine.
Congratulations to Helene Knott, who received the Best of Country Award: United States and the Viewers' Choice Award for the entire show for her quilt "Low Tide" at the World Quilt Show XI -- New England, World Quilt Competition: 2007, held August 16-19, 2007, at Manchester, New Hampshire. Helene also won 1st Place in Machine Quilting, 1st Place in Mixed Techniques, and Viewers' Choice at the Northwest Quilters' Quilt Show in June 2007.
Helene's quilt "Low Tide" is being featured in Joen Wolfrom's new book, Visual Coloring, just released by C&T Publishing. She also has a new Story Quilts pattern, "Let Sleeping Cats Lie". |

Betty Pribil
Betty was awarded the first NWQ Outstanding Service Award at the June, 2007 general meeting. She is a former chairman of the Comforting Quilts committee and has made over 4000 quilts for charity. |
